If you are a patient at St. Mary’s Hospital of Superior, just one physician will attend you Monday through Sunday. No more do patients have to wait until the doctor has time between office patients to see them.

St. Mary’s Hospital of Superior/Duluth Clinic-Superior created a hospitalist program to streamline processes while providing more continuity of care for patients.

It works like this: The Internal Medicine and Family Practice doctors take turns rotating through one week of hospitalist duty – admitting and caring for each hospitalized patient, no matter who the patient sees in the clinic.

The continuity of care is shown to shorten hospital stays while allowing the physician to attend to the unique physical and emotional issues of hospitalized patients.
